We recently took up an IRCTC Himachal Pradesh tour package. The journey from Mumbai started on 19th June 2010. It comprised a night’s stay at Delhi’s Hotel Perfect located at Karol Bagh. Unfortunately, just after making payment for the package, we happened to read TripAdvisor reviews about the hotel. Click here and you’d know why we were extremely worried about the stay there. It was too late to do anything about it, so we went to the hotel with zero expectations and prepared ourselves to book another hotel in Delhi if need be.
Now either we got the cleanest room or the hotel management has improvised things after actually going through the reviews. All in all, we were not disappointed.
Rooms: Our room at Hotel Perfect was quite neat. Of course, the bathtub was not sparkling white, but it wasn’t bad either. No problem of hot / cold water. The AC worked well unlike other reviews, however it was fixed on a wall near the bathroom away from the bed for God knows what reason, but it did provide sufficient cooling. The sheets were clean and there wasn’t any foul smell anywhere (I am clarifying this for those who read the reviews on Trip Advisor to know that the hotel is better now).
Food: We had a buffet system. Food was actually good. The breakfast too was nice. The plates however needed to be cleaner. We had to use the paper napkins to wipe them clean.
Staff and service: Prompt and good. They guided us well about nearby shopping area. We wanted to dine late, they assured us that we can return at our convenience and the buffet would be in place. It was! In fact, after we reached our room, we were surprised to receive ice cream. It was very sweet of the person to bring it to our room saying that we forgot to have it after the dinner! It was just what we needed at the end of a very hot day (46 degrees Celsius).
To sum it up: For the cost, the hotel is reasonably good. Especially, if you are planning just a night’s stay. The best part is that Hotel Perfect is located right next to the huge Karol Bagh market area (Gaffar Market and Ajmal Khan Road) where you can pick up a lot of stuff! And yes, It’s a 3-minute walk to the Karol Bagh metro station too!
